Betsy's Story

   Little did then R.N. Betsy Billingslea realize that her visit to a nutrition lecture at church would change the course of her entire life.
   But, after taking vitamin A to help with her eyes and seeing an improvement in her night vision, Betsy was hooked.
   Almost 50 years later, Betsy has been an active participant in the health foods industry that she loves. She has served on the board for the Natural Products Association, lobbied for supplement rights in Washington, and learned from industry greats at national trade shows.
   In 1993, Betsy's family encouraged her to open her own store. Her husband, Richard, an architect, designed the store. Her son, John, took over managing the business side of things. Daughter, Beth, helped out early on the sales floor before making her own name in the industry. Daughter-in-law Ramona became the marketing and education support for the store.
   Today, Betsy's Health Foods stores are the result of one family's desire to help others realize the benefits of great nutrition.

A love for the business-side of helping people stay healthy motivates Betsy's son to manage our stores, including ensuring we get deals from our manufacturers that we can pass on to our customers.

Though I am a novelist and educator at heart, I am proud to be the webmaster, education coordinator, and marketing guru for our stores. As Betsy's daughter-in-law, I've been doing it for more than two decades.
